  Corporate History

Started on St. Patrick's Day in 1975, Suburban Business Products Inc. had a 2,000 square foot office in the growing part of St. Louis West County, now known as Westport.

Richard Shea, Founder and President of the company was 28 years old and had been in the office equipment business for 5 years with Bell & Howell Company. The door opened with 5 employees, 3 of which are still with the company and the other two have since retired.

Our first goal of business in 1975 was to provide the St. Louis marketplace with the highest quality reprographics products available in the marketplace.

Over the years we have progressed from selling ditto-spot duplicators in 1975 to today marketing the finest high volume high featured digital image solutions available.

Over the past 33 years Suburban Business Products has distributed for major office equipment manufacturers to keep our customers technology needs up to date with the finest in office automation products and service.

Our company motto of "Do More of What You Do Best" has kept us focused on our ability to provide our customers with the best products, supplies and service available in the market to create impact on paper.

Our staff of dedicated employees has grown today to occupy 20,000 square feet of a 32,000 square feet company-owned facility at 2290 Grissom Drive in the Westport area.

The annual St. Patrick's Day Open House has become a tradition for our customers and our employees to help celebrate our continuing success and growth.

We are proud of our heritage and look forward to the challenges of the next 33 years.
